Our Story

Chapter I: When Two Unassuming Paths Crossed

Dearest gentle reader,

It is a truth widely entertained that the grandest romances arrive in a blaze of spectacle, with fireworks, with certainty, with unmistakable proclamations of destiny.

Society adores such beginnings. They are easy to admire and even easier to believe.

And yet, the most enduring love stories rarely trouble themselves with grandeur. They begin not with applause, but with silence. Not with astonishment, but with simplicity.

Such, dear reader, was the case for two young souls whose paths first intertwined within the modest halls of Clarice Angels School.

He had been a familiar fixture since his earliest days in Kinder. She arrived in the second grade, new, unnoticed, and altogether unassuming.

There was no dramatic introduction. No lingering glance worthy of gossip.

Merely two children sharing classrooms, passing one another in hallways without pause, entirely unaware that fate had already begun weaving its delicate thread between them.

For what is destiny, if not the quiet persistence of time?

And thus, without fanfare or forewarning, their story commenced.

Chapter II: When the Familiar Felt Different

For years, they were nothing more than classmates, acquaintances at best, moving within the predictable rhythm of youth. They shared corridors, classrooms, and the occasional polite exchange, yet remained ordinary figures in one another’s lives.

Until, as these matters so often unfold, something shifted.

No proclamation heralded its arrival. No singular moment demanded recognition. And yet, almost imperceptibly, the familiar began to feel different.

Glances lingered a heartbeat longer than necessary. Presence, once unnoticed, now carried weight. Conversations, once casual, began to matter. Slowly, without fully realizing it, distance dissolved.

In the quiet order of the classroom, beneath desks and hidden from watchful eyes, their hands would sometimes find one another. Words were scarce, for none were required. Silence itself spoke volumes, nourishing emotions neither yet knew how to name.

Lecture followed lecture. Around them, classmates chattered, teachers instructed, life continued. But within that ordinary chaos, they existed elsewhere, suspended in a world known only to two.

To an outsider, such moments may have appeared insignificant, fleeting, or childish.

But to them, they were everything.

And though they were still young, high school students navigating feelings far larger than their years, society would have been entirely mistaken to call it ā€œpuppy love.ā€

Chapter III: When Hearts Spoke in Silence

Time, relentless as ever, eventually drew them apart. Just as fate had drawn them together, it now allowed life to pull them in opposite directions.

High school ended, and they embarked on separate journeys. He went to Baguio City, pursuing his studies and ambitions, while she remained in the province of Pangasinan, shaping her own path.

Separate lives unfolded. New experiences took form. Battles were faced alone, comforts found in family and self. What had once been near became distant.

Yet, distance does not always extinguish a connection. Though unaware of each other’s daily lives, each lingered quietly in the thoughts of the other. Fear, or perhaps pride, kept their hearts silent, convinced that the other had long ceased to care.

Some feelings, dear reader, do not fade. They merely wait.

Chapter IV: When Fate Most Relentlessly Intervened

Now graduates of their respective universities, they had learned lessons that would one day prove invaluable. Ambitions were pursued, paths navigated with quiet resolve, and life continued its steady course. And then, quite unexpectedly, the world itself faltered.

A pandemic swept across nations, stilling cities and confining lives to their homes. Streets emptied. Doors closed. Society, so accustomed to motion, was forced into pause.

Yet even in the bleakest chapters, opportunity sometimes whispers.

High school friends, once scattered by circumstance, found their way back to one another, not in crowded halls, but across screens and speakers. And inevitably, so did they.

Amidst casual group calls, laughter, films, and games, however, a subtle yet undeniable tension lingered between the two. Neither dared speak it, yet fate, as always, was not so easily discouraged.

What began as ordinary reconnection slowly deepened. Conversations extended beyond the group. Private messages, one-on-one games, quiet calls. Almost imperceptibly, what had once been lost returned.

Until, on the first day of August in 2021, after countless days of shared isolation, what had long remained unspoken was finally brought into the light.

He asked her.

This time, there was no uncertainty. They chose each other.

Chapter V: When Love Endured Time and Distance

One might assume that love, once found, should come easily. One would be mistaken.

Even before the pandemic, she had journeyed abroad to live and work, while he remained in the Philippines. And so, even as the world slowly reopened and the pandemic eased, the miles between them persisted, a steadfast challenge to be met.

Their love was shaped by oceans, time zones, and the quiet ache of absence.

And yet, they were undeterred. Determined to make this work, day after day they faced every challenge with unwavering resolve. They were present for one another in triumph and trial, in joy and in sorrow.

Visits home, though cherished, were fleeting. Each return to the Philippines offered but a brief respite, and every departure carried a pang of helplessness.

And yet, they endured.

Not through grand gestures, nor through fleeting moments of spectacle, but through the quiet, steady act of choosing. In every call. In every message. In every moment spent apart, yet together in heart and thought.

They endured.

They chose each other not once, but every day.

And perhaps, dear reader, that is the truest form of love: steadfast, patient, and unshakable across distance and time.

Chapter V I: When a Promise Was Made

Years passed, and still, they remained. Through distance. Through change. Through time itself.

What had once been uncertain had grown into something undeniable. They had built something precious, steadfast, and extraordinary. Certain of one another, they chose each other every day, embracing imperfections and loving not in grand proclamations, but in quiet, unwavering acts.

She returned to the Philippines for the New Year of 2025, spending it in his home with his family. Little did she know, that was all that was needed. And as the new year dawned, on the first day of January, he asked her — once again.

And there, in that moment, they made a choice once more, a choice not only for the present, but for all the days yet to come.

For what is love, if not the quiet certainty that no matter how far one may wander, one will always find their way back?

And now, dearest gentle reader, their story continues, not as something fleeting, but as something enduring. A story defined not by chance, but by choice, every day.

Yours truly,

Someone who has been watching all along.
